WHO WE ARE New Capital City

About the New Capital City

Egypt's New Administrative Capital — officially renamed "The New Capital" (العاصمة الجديدة) in 2025 — is one of the most ambitious urban development megaprojects in the world. Located approximately 45 kilometers east of Cairo on the Cairo–Suez corridor, this purpose-built smart city is designed to serve as Egypt's new political, administrative, and economic hub, offering a modern alternative to the overcrowded historic capital.

A Vision Turned Reality

Announced in March 2015 as part of Egypt's Vision 2030 strategy and developed by the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), the New Capital spans approximately 700 square kilometers — comparable in size to Singapore. It is designed to house 6.5 million residents and generate up to 2 million job opportunities. By 2025, over 30 government ministries and entities have relocated to the new city, the Egyptian Parliament holds its official sessions in its new landmark building, and major banks and corporations have established headquarters in the Central Business District (CBD). Topping the skyline is Africa's tallest tower — the Iconic Tower — at 385 meters.

Key Landmarks and Districts

The city's green spine is the Green River Park — a 10-kilometer landscaped linear park containing walking and cycling paths and native Egyptian vegetation, stretching through the heart of the city. Flanking the central ceremonial axis are government ministry buildings, foreign embassies, and the grand Presidential Palace. Iconic religious landmarks include Misr Mosque — one of the largest mosques in Africa — and the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, the largest cathedral in the Middle East. For culture, the city houses the Museum of Egyptian Capitals and the National Library. Sports fans are served by a world-class stadium that ranks among the largest in Africa.

Real Estate in the New Capital

The New Capital is rapidly emerging as one of Egypt's most active real estate investment markets. Residential districts R1 through R8 offer a diverse range of properties — from mid-market apartments to ultra-luxury penthouses and villas — at prices that still represent significant upside potential. With government functions, corporate activity, and infrastructure buildout all accelerating, early investors are positioned to benefit from long-term capital appreciation and strong rental demand from the city's growing base of residents and government employees.
